John Comer (1 March 1924 – 11 February 1984) was a British comic actor. He was best known for his roles in Coronation Street as Mr Birtles, then as a taxi driver, and later as Wilf Jones, in Emmerdale Farm as Ernie Shuttleworth, Les Brandon in I Didn't Know You Cared , and cafe owner Sid in Last of the Summer Wine .
For John Comer's last ever appearance, in the 1983 feature-length Christmas special, "Getting Sam Home", illness caused by cancer affected his speech, and so his lines were dubbed over by another actor, Tony Melody. Comer died two months later in February 1984.
Jon Comer (January 19, 1976 – December 5, 2019) was the first professional skateboarder with a prosthetic limb (due to an amputated lower leg) and was regarded as the godfather of adaptive skateboarding. [1] He was featured in the award-winning documentary Never Been Done.
