Duarte (/ ˈ d w ɑːr t i, d u ˈ ɑːr t eɪ /) is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States.As of the 2020 census, the city population was 21,727.It is bounded to the north by the San Gabriel Mountains, to the north and west by the cities of Bradbury and Monrovia, to the south by the city of Irwindale, and to the east by the cities of Irwindale and Azusa.
The Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad was founded in 1883, by James F. Crank with the goal of bringing a rail line to San Gabriel Valley from downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad was sold on May 20, 1887, into the California Central Railway. The California Central Railway built a Duarte train depot in 1897.
