Merism: type of synecdoche referring to two or more contrasting parts to describe it's whole; Metalepsis: figurative speech is used in a new context.
Verbosity, or verboseness, is speech or writing that uses more words than necessary. [1] The opposite of verbosity is succinctness. [dubious – discuss] Some teachers, including the author of The Elements of Style, warn against verbosity. Similarly Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway, among others, famously avoided it.
Colloquialism (also called colloquial language, colloquial speech, everyday language, or general parlance) is the linguistic style used for casual and informal communication. It is the most common form of speech in conversation among persons in friendship, familial, intimate, and other informal contexts. [1]
