The typical machine is loaded with a continuous flat roll of plastic film, which has usually had labeling and artwork applied. Plastic is the most commonly used packaging material in the food industry, but the technology can be used to form continuous metallized foil/film, paper, and fabric product containers by changing the edge sealing/seaming methods.
Fillers (or filling machines) are used for packaging, mainly for food/beverage but for other products as well. These are used to fill either a bottle or a pouch, depending on the product. There are several types of fillers used by the packaging industry. The following are the most common:
Sliding blister sealing machine packaging machinery is much faster than manual packaging. One good example of this is the candy packing machine. Here, hundreds to thousands of candies can be wrapped in minutes.
Hudson-Sharp acquires Amplas and expands the product offering of bottom-seal technology. 2006 Side Gusset Bottom Seal Pouch Machine with patented Inno-Lok transverse direction zipper applicator introduced. 2007 NTR800 Roll to Roll Machine introduced. 2008 Hudson-Sharp introduces new generation servo pouch machinery.
The packaging machinery involved typically forms the pouch from preprinted roll stock. The preformed pouches are shipped to a packager where they are filled and the top is sealed. The alternative is an integral form-fill-seal machine, whether vertical or horizontal. The equipment forms the pouches, fills the pouches in-line, and seals them.
Automatic belt chamber sealers require the entire product to be placed in a plastic bag or flow wrapped pouch within the machine. The product travels on the conveyor belt, it is automatically positioned in the machine on the seal bar, the lid is closed and air is removed. Then a seal bar inside the chamber seals the product in the bag.
