Minwax was founded in 1904 by Arthur B Harrison. Harrison persuaded his employer at Clifford I. Miller to manufacture a line of waterproofing materials, and later bought the line in 1910, [ 2 ] which he then named Minwax®.

[2] [citation needed] At the end of World War I in 1918, Sterling purchased the US assets of a German company now known as Bayer AG for US$5.3 million.
The last US catalog was the 2004 Krause-Minkus Standard Catalog of U.S. Stamps. The Minkus catalogues had more extensive information about the subjects of stamps, a short paragraph about the subject portrayed on the stamp, than the Scott catalogue, which has only a name or brief sentence. [2]
