Waterford re-entered the league in the 1935–36 season along with Sligo Rovers. Waterford won the Shield in their first season. Waterford won the FAI cup for the first time in their history in 1937 beating St. James Gate and also won the Shield. The club were league runners up in 1937–38 season and again in the 1940–41 season.
The 2024 Waterford Premier Intermediate Football Championship was the second staging of the Waterford Premier Intermediate Football Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board. [2] [3] The draws for the group stage pairings was made on 29 January 2024. [4] The championship ran from 7 September to 13 October 2024.
On 31 January 2022, Waterford County Board delegates voted on the restructuring of the entire intermediate football championship system following a review process. It was decided to establish an all-county six-team premier intermediate football championship for 2023. [4]

The 2021–22 season was the 123rd season in existence of Watford Football Club and their first season back in the Premier League following their immediate return with promotion from the Championship in the previous season. Watford also competed in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Waterford moved to the newly opened RSC from their former home, Kilcohan Park for the 1993-94 season and have remained there ever since.
