Ravenswood "Old Town" Historic District is a national historic district located at Ravenswood, Jackson County, West Virginia.It encompasses 313 contributing buildings and two contributing structures, the Ohio River Rail Road Steel Pratt-through truss Bridge and Concrete bridge on State Route 68 over Sandy Creek.
Ravenswood is located at (38.952922, -81.761357), [15] along the Ohio River at the mouth of Sandy [ 16 ] According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 1.90 square miles (4.92 km 2 ), of which 1.83 square miles (4.74 km 2 ) is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 km 2 ) is water.
The only incorporated town in the district is the city of Ravenswood. With a population estimated at 3,668 in 2018, it is the largest city in Jackson County. [14] The area of Ravenswood was originally surveyed and patented by George Washington before the Revolutionary War, and the town laid out by his heirs in 1836.

Ravenswood District, formerly Ravenswood Magisterial District, is one of five historic magisterial districts in Jackson County, West Virginia, United States.The district was originally known as Gilmore Township, one of five civil townships established in 1863; the name officially became "Ravenswood" in 1871, and Jackson County's townships were converted into magisterial districts in 1872.
