Normal: 1000 fish: 9% CPU 76% GPU - smooth. 1250 fish: 10% CPU 89% GPU - smooth. 1500 fish: 12% CPU 99% GPU - smooth but beginning to drop frames. Webrender: 1000 fish: 14% CPU 89% GPU - smooth. 1250 fish: 14% CPU 99% GPU - dropping a lot of frames. 1500 fish: very laggy sub-60 fps. So at least for me webrender uses more resources and is slower.
Rough math guessing that’s only 20” high: Volume = 4188.8 cubic inches = about 18 gallons and will weigh just under 200 pounds full. I owned an art galley and custom frame store for nearly 20 years. If you want to do a betta head over to r/bettafish and read their wiki guide. They can do a 5 gallon which is pretty small and doable.
