The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet is a school of classical ballet in St Petersburg, Russia.Established in 1738 during the reign of Empress Anna, the academy was known as the Imperial Ballet School until the Soviet era, when, after a brief hiatus, the school was re-established as the Leningrad State Choreographic Institute.
Today the Vaganova method is the most widely used ballet teaching method in Russia, but is not limited to that country. It has been the predominant method in many other countries, such as Ukraine, [5] Germany, [6] and China. [7] The State Ballet School of Berlin is the most well-known school using the Vaganova method outside Russia. [6]

Galina Sergeyevna Mezentseva (Russian: Галина Серге́евна Мéзенцева, born 8 November 1952, Stavropol) is a Russian ballerina, with a career as professional classic dancer from the early 1970s to the late 1990s.
