Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire is an architecturally significant country house from the Elizabethan era, a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. Built between 1590 and 1597 for Bess of Hardwick , it was designed by the architect Robert Smythson , an exponent of the Renaissance style .
Hardwick Hall was also the site of a one-day music event, Hardwick Live, until 2015. [2] Hardwick Live was replaced by a larger two-day event, Down To The Woods, in 2016. Hardwick Hall Hotel. Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield, County Durham is a building of historical significance and is a Grade II listed building on the English Heritage Register. [1] A major part of it was built in the late 1700s but it is possible that some of it dates from about 1634. It was the residence for many notable people for two centuries.
The Eglantine Table is a large inlaid table located on the first floor at Hardwick Hall. The inlay depicts an almost complete Morley consort, including inlay depictions of sheet music, a violin with frets, sets of recorders and wind instruments. The table is oak, with walnut and other woods used for the inlays.
The Sea Dog Table is one of the treasures of Hardwick Hall. It is regarded as one of the most important examples of 16th century furniture in Britain. It is a very elaborately carved table of around 1600. It has acquired some interesting historical anecdotes concerning the Cavendish family.
Hardwick House was a manor house near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, owned by Sir Robert Drury, Speaker of the House of Commons, of Hawstead Place. It was subsequently purchased in the seventeenth century by Royalist Thomas Cullum , a former Sheriff of London .
