Angelo State University is a public university in San Angelo, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1928 as San Angelo College . It gained university status and awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1967 and graduate degrees in 1969, the same year it took on its current name.

Joseph Rallo is the State of Louisiana's Commissioner of Higher Education. Previously he served as vice chancellor of the Texas Tech University System and as the 5th president of Angelo State University. He assumed his current position in 2015.

It is located on the shores of O.C. Fisher Lake outside San Angelo, Texas. The research center serves as a full-sized working ranch, one of few among U.S. universities. It includes 150 Rambouillet sheep (the university mascot), 100 Suffolk and hair sheep, 95 Boer goats, 50 Angora goats, and over 100 Angus cattle. [2]
