SS Noordam (1902) was the first Noordam, a transatlantic ocean liner of 12,528 gross tons built at Harland and Wolff, operating mostly from Rotterdam to New York between 1902 and 1927. MV Noordam (1938) was a 10,704 GRT cargo liner built by P. Smit Jr. in Rotterdam, had a cruising speed of 18 knots (33 km/h; 21 mph).
SS Noordam was a steam ocean liner that was launched in Ireland in 1901 and scrapped in the Netherlands in 1928–29. Holland America Line owned her throughout her career. From 1923 to 1924 Swedish American Line chartered her and renamed her Kungsholm .

Noordam completed the trio when she began her maiden voyage in May 1902. By 1910 Rijndam was equipped for submarine signalling, and the Marconi Company had equipped her for wireless telegraphy. [8] By 1913 her wireless telegraph call sign was MHY, [5] but by 1914 it had been changed to PED. [6]

SS Ryndam was an ocean liner built for Holland America Line in 1951. She was built by N.V. Dok en Werfmaatschappij Wilton-Fijenoord, Schiedam. She was christened by Mrs. C. Tjarda van Stakenborgh Stachouwer-Marburg (wife of the prewar Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies). [2]
She was renamed SS Drottningholm and entered service for her new owners on 30 May 1920. In 1922–1923 the Drottningholm was refurbished, re-engined and her superstructure enlarged. [2] [13] [14] As a partial replacement, the 1902-built SS Noordam was chartered from Holland America Line as SS Kungsholm from 27 February 1923 until 18 December 1924.
