Sharafuddin was born on 24 December 1945, at the Istana Jema'ah in Klang, as the first son of the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Selangor, Tengku Abdul Aziz Shah and his first wife, Raja Saidatul Ihsan binti Tengku Badar Shah (1923–2011). [2] [3] He was named Tengku Idris Shah at birth. [4]
Her husband, Sharafuddin built a pavilion at their private residence specifically for feeding stray cats. [1] On 24 March 2017, she launched the "Stray Free Selangor (SFS) – The Humane and Compassionate Way" campaign through the Selangor Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA), of which she is a royal patron.
Zatashah was born on 12 October 1973 to the then Raja Muda of Selangor Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his first wife Zarina. Her parents were divorced in 1987, when she was fourteen. She has an elder sister, Tengku Zerafina and a younger half-brother, Tengku Amir Shah. [3]
