The Frégate de Défense et d'Intervention (English: Defence and Intervention Frigate) or FDI, [4] formerly denominated Frégate de Taille Intermédiaire (English: Medium-Size Frigate) or FTI, is a programme launched in 2015 to produce a new class of first-rank French frigates to complement the Aquitaine-class.

The construction of the ship was started with the first steel cutting ceremony at the Naval Group shipyard in Lorient on 24 October 2019. [8] Her keel was laid down on 17 December 2021. [9] Amiral Ronarc'h was ceremonially launched on 7 November 2022. The ship was partially launched by flooding her construction dock.
The 30mm DS30M Mark 2 is a ship-protection system made by MSI-Defence Systems consisting of a 30mm Mark 44 Bushmaster II cannon on an automated mount.
