Substance 3D Modeler is a 3D modeling software developed by Adobe Inc. It is part of the Substance 3D suite of tools designed for 3D digital content creation, specifically focusing on editing and sculpting 3D models.
Allegorithmic's Substance 3D Designer software won the Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 2023. [ 13 ] [ 14 ] Its Substance Painter texturing tool was also used in the Oscar-winning short film Mr Hublot [ 15 ] and won an Emmy Award in 2024 in the Engineering, Science & Technology category.

UV texturing is an alternative to projection mapping (e.g., using any pair of the model's X, Y, Z coordinates or any transformation of the position); it only maps into a texture space rather than into the geometric space of the object. The rendering computation uses the UV texture coordinates to determine how to paint the three-dimensional surface.

Substance Painter was used in a new way resulting in loading all the UDIMs and being able to bake all the maps in one place alongside UV and surfacing on ZBrush. These were later exported to Autodesk software alongside materials for the hard surfacing, for metals, paints, plastics, rubbers and for the background props modelling.
