South Bend is a train station in South Bend, Indiana. It is served by Amtrak 's Lake Shore Limited between Chicago , Boston and New York City , and Floridian between Chicago and Miami . The station was built by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad in 1970; South Shore Line trains continued to use it until 1992.
The directors of the Air Line voted for a corporate name change on July 30, 1904: The Chicago, Lake Shore and South Bend Railway Company. It opened in 1921 and closed in 1970, when the South Shore Line eliminated street running within South Bend. This station, situated on the site of a former Masonic Temple, was the South Shore's third South Bend station [1] and opened on August 3, 1921. [2] In 1928, the station was remodeled to resemble the 11th Street station in Michigan City.
