Wattala (Sinhala: වත්තල, Tamil: வத்தளை) is a large suburb of Gampaha district , in Western Province, Sri Lanka, situated around 9 km from Colombo city centre. This suburb is situated on A3 highway from Colombo to Negombo. Around Wattala, there are many villages and towns. People from all walks of life live in this area.
The Wattala Polling Division has a Roman Catholic plurality (45.2%), a significant Buddhist population (29.9%) and a significant Hindu population (13.0%) . Gampaha District is located in the west of Sri Lanka and has an area of 1,387 square kilometres (536 sq mi). [1] It is bounded by Kurunegala and Puttalam districts from north, Kegalle District from east, Colombo District from south and by the Indian Ocean from west. [4]
