The Spirit of '67 is the sixth studio album by American rock band Paul Revere & the Raiders. Produced by Terry Melcher and released in November 1966 by Columbia Records (CS 9395), and featured the singles "Hungry", "The Great Airplane Strike", and "Good Thing". Revere announced his retirement from the band in August 2014; the group planned to tour without him as "Paul Revere's Raiders". In October 2014, the band's web site announced that Revere had died "peacefully" on October 4, 2014, at his Garden Valley, Idaho home, a "small estate overlooking a tranquil river canyon", from cancer.

Like their previous Top 10 hit, "Good Thing", the song was written by Raiders lead singer Mark Lindsay and producer Terry Melcher like all the other Revolution! tracks. They used to write album cuts in their shared home in 10050 Cielo Drive, famous for the Tate-LaBianca murders. Melcher wrote the chorus and Lindsay developed the rest. [5]
