The High Court of Judicature at Patna (commonly known as Patna High Court) is the High Court of the state of Bihar. It was established on 3 February 1916 by British colonial government and was later affiliated under the Government of India Act 1915 , making it one of the oldest High Courts of India .
On 1 August 2023, Patna High Court's division bench comprising Chief Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Partha Sarathy gave judgement that holding caste survey in Bihar is valid and legal. [5] The division bench passed the order in its 101-page verdict, [ 6 ] [ 7 ] [ 8 ] while dismissing all petitions challenging survey.

Agrawal was born on 1 August 1927. He was enrolled as an Advocate of Patna High Court on 19.12.1955. He was elevated as Senior Advocate of Patna High Court from 19.5.1972. Agrawal Practiced mostly in civil cases. He was appointed as Additional Judge. Patna High Court from 12 April 1973 and promoted as permanent Judge from 01.01.1974.
He was appointed the additional advocate general of the State of Bihar on 14 December 1993. He was elevated as a permanent judge of the Patna High Court on 8 November 1994 and was transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 21 November 1994 from where he was transferred back to Patna High Court on 10 September 2001.
