Castle Knob [1] is the motte (artificial hill) of Castle Gresley, a ruined motte and bailey castle in Derbyshire, England. The date of construction is not known but may have been in the mid-12th century Anarchy era.
Source: "The Gresleys, more unusually, seem to have built a castle at their caput. The name is preserved in the current name of Castle Gresley, and in a mound, still approximately 20 feet high, known locally as Castle Knob, that lies about a mile from the remains of Gresley Priory" from: Boston, Hannah (2024).
