ACHA Division II MACHA Gold Champions 2014 & 2015 The Missouri State Ice Bears are a college ice hockey team, representing Missouri State University and based in Springfield, Missouri . [ 1 ] The team competes in the Western Collegiate Hockey League , part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I.
The MACHA Silver Division has sent several teams to the ACHA Division 3 National Tournament the past few years. The most notable finish was Iowa State in 2012. As the #3 seed from the Pacific Region they won their pool to reach the National semifinals where they lost to eventual champion Adrian College .
Additionally, several universities that do sponsor NCAA varsity hockey teams also field ACHA-affiliated teams. Of all non-varsity sports activities, the ACHA-affiliated hockey teams generally garner the most attention at their universities, such as Missouri State where it is the third-largest spectator
In 2012, the WCHL was created and played its first season in the ACHA in 2013-14 with six founding member teams.
