Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. [5] The current lineup consists of co-lead vocalist and bassist Ken Casey, drummer Matt Kelly, co-lead vocalist Al Barr (on hiatus from the band since 2022), rhythm and lead guitarist James Lynch, lead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Tim Brennan and multi-instrumentalist and rhythm guitarist Jeff DaRosa.
John E. "Dropkick" Murphy (May 12, 1912 – October 17, 1977) [1] was an American professional wrestler and sanatorium owner. He operated the Bellows Farms Sanatorium, an alcoholic rehabilitation facility in Acton, Massachusetts from 1941 to 1971. [1] The band Dropkick Murphys is named after him.
