Website. www.law.wvu.edu. The West Virginia University College of Law is the professional school for the study of law at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, United States. The law school was established on February 20, 1878, as the first professional school in the state, and remains the only law school in the state.
The school was founded as the Parkersburg Branch of West Virginia University in 1961. Its name was changed to West Virginia University-Parkersburg Center in 1966 and then Parkersburg Community College in 1971. [4] Under Governor Gaston Caperton in 1990, a redesign of the state system of higher education was proposed.
The West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represents West Virginia University in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. They are a member of the Big 12 Conference. WVU has won 13 conference tournament championships, and has 31 appearances in the NCAA tournament, including two Final Fours, most recently in 2010.
The school became a regional campus of West Virginia University in 1996, leading to its present name. [4] It later became an integrated division of WVU in July 2007.
