Kudumbashree was set up in 1997 following the recommendations of a three-member task force appointed by the State Government. Its formation was in the context of the devolution of powers to the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) in Kerala, and the People's Planning in Kerala, the campaign which attempted to draw up the Ninth Plan of the local governments from below through the PRIs.
In Kerala, the administrative divisions below the district are called taluks. There are 78 taluks with 1670 villages (including group villages). [1] [2] For revenue administration, a district subdivided into revenue divisions, each comprising multiple taluks within its jurisdiction. A taluk contain several revenue villages under its jurisdiction.
The Kuttippuram Block Panchayat is the block-level administrative body that administers the region around Kuttippuram in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. [3] It is also one of the 15 Block Panchayats established for the proper block-level administration of Gram panchayats in the district. [ 4 ]
The government is dependent on Kerala Legislative Assembly to make primary legislation. Legislative assembly elections are held every five years to elect a new assembly, unless there is a successful vote of no confidence in the government or a two-thirds vote for a snap election in the assembly, in which case an election may be held sooner.
It acts as centre for Chadayamangalam block panchayat, gram panchayat and assembly constituency. It hosts numerous government institutions including hospitals, schools and police station. Chadayamangalam is well noticed for newly constructed Jatayu Earth’s Center , which is a tourism centre in the town with the world’s largest bird sculpture.
