Palatine is thought to be named after a town in New York. [7] The Palatine Metra station along the Union Pacific Northwest Line. The Village of Palatine was founded in 1866. It was built around a station on the new Chicago and North Western Railway. Joel Wood surveyed and laid out the village, earning him the title of Palatine's founder.
Palatine Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 114,403. [ 2 ] It is the north central township of the six northwest townships that form the Cook County panhandle.
Charles opened the Bank of Palatine, which was the only bank in the village at the time. He later became director of the First National Bank of Palatine. He married Mary Robertson of Lake Zurich and opened a creamery in her hometown. Patten served as village treasurer and was elected Mayor of Palatine in 1894, a position that he held through 1895.

Palatine station is a commuter railroad station on Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line in the village of Palatine, Illinois.It is officially located at 137 West Wood Street, however there are parking lots for the station scattered within its vicinity, such as those on Smith Street, Colfax Street, Brockway Street, Slade Street, Railroad Avenue, and Palatine Road.

On February 25, 2008, Schwantz declared his intention to run for mayor of the Village of Palatine, Illinois. On April 7, 2009, he secured 42% of the vote, defeating 20-year incumbent Rita Mullins, who ended up placing a distant third in a four-way mayoral race. Schwantz was sworn into office as Mayor of Palatine on May 4, 2009. [12]
