Polar bear on Wrangel Island. Wrangel Island is a breeding ground for polar bears—having the highest density of dens in the world—bearded and ringed seals, walrus, as well as collared and west and east Siberian lemmings, a major food source for terrestrial carnivores, namely the Arctic foxes, wolverines and wolves which also inhabit the island.
