Krypton is usually portrayed in comics as the home of a fantastically advanced civilization, which is destroyed when the planet explodes. Superman starts destroying the armada, and Tyrell reveals himself. He turns out to be from the planet Dheron, an enemy planet of Krypton; a mysterious man provided Dheron with a war machine designed to destroy Krypton's core. Although Krypton was destroyed, Clark survived, and Tyrell's mission is to find and kill him.
With the group's aid, Superman and Kara recover, reach Kandor, and confront Brainiac, who reveals he destroyed Krypton in the face of peace talks that would have led to his shutdown, and attempts to brainwash Kara once more. Luthor engineers a fake Kryptonian invasion, but Superman stops him and Luthor's schemes are revealed to the world after much of his LexCorp headquarters are destroyed. In the final seconds of the battle, Superman discovers the video monitor invented by Luthor which had managed to make contact with pre-destruction Krypton.
