The Indian Maritime University, abbreviated as IMU, is a public central university directly under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, in India.It deals with a wide range of topics related to the sea, ranging from oceanography to maritime law and history, and including practical topics such as search and rescue at sea and the transportation of dangerous goods.
The institute was established in 2002. Neotia Institute of Technology Management and Science was previously known as Institute of Technology and Marine Engineering(ITME). From 2006 the college started a three-year graduate program in Bachelor of Nautical Science. As of 2010, the institute comes under the Ambuja Neotia Group. [1]

It also provides on board training for students in its own training vessel. After completion the degree will be awarded by Cochin University of Science and Technology.
