The Executive Council of KwaZulu-Natal is the cabinet of the executive branch of the provincial government in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal.The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) are appointed from among the members of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, an office held since May 2024 by Thami Ntuli of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).
Elections to the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature must be held every five years, usually at the same time as the election of the National Assembly; the last such election occurred on 14 June 2024. At the first meeting of the provincial legislature after an election, the members indirectly elect the premier from amongst themselves.
KwaZulu-Natal is a province of South Africa that is divided, for local government purposes, into one metropolitan municipality (the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality) and ten district municipalities. The district municipalities are in turn divided into forty-three local municipalities.

Pappas served as a member of the eThekwini city council from 2016 until 2019 and as a DA Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 2019 to 2021. In September 2023, Pappas was included on the "TIME100 Next list" by Time magazine.
It is conterminous with the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The constituency currently elects 41 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 5,524,666 registered electors.
