Formed as a Field Sqn at RAF Chivenor on 3 October 1951, and moved subsequently to RAF Rudloe Manor in October 1955, The squadron re-roled as a Light Anti-Aircraft (LAA) unit in January 1956, but reverted to being a field squadron on 2 November 1956. The squadron deployed to Egypt between 6 November and 28 December 1956.
