Anders Poulsen or Poala-Ánde (in Northern Sámi; died 1692), was a North Sami noaidi, who was the last victim of the many Vardø witch trials, which took place between 1621 and 1692. [1] In Sámi form his name was Poala-Ánde. Anders Poulsen's Sámi drum.
Paulsen's drum was confiscated in Vadsø in 1691, while the Bindal drum was bought by a museum official in 1925; Vadsø Municipality and Bindal Municipality being in opposite corners of the Sami world. Paulsens's drum has a typical Northern Sámi pattern, with several separate levels representing the different layers of spiritual worlds.
The Freelancers Drum and Bugle Corps (formerly the Capitalaires) [c] was a Division I corps based in Sacramento, California. The group began in 1930 as a parade corps sponsored by the George W. Manhart Post #391 of the American Legion. [ 17 ]
The corps was founded in 1963 as the Ye Wah Drums and Lyras Corps, an activity for youth of Chinese-American heritage.
