The Knutsford Urban District Council was an Urban District Council for the town of Knutsford, Cheshire from 1895 to 1974. [3] It was established in 1895 following the establishment and dissolution of parish councils created under the Local Government Act 1894 for Nether Knutsford and Over Knutsford. [4]
Knutsford Town Council was created after the abolition of the urban district council in the Local Government Reorganisation of 1974. The town comprises five wards: Nether, Norbury Booths, Bexton and Town Centre, Cross Town and St John's Wood. [11] Each ward returns three councillors and each councillor serves a four-year term.
The town hall was latterly mainly used as an events venue.
