Woodman Point is a headland on the west coast of Western Australia. It is located in the Perth suburb of Coogee , 22 kilometres (14 mi) south-south-west of the city centre and 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Fremantle .
Features of Woodman Point include a large jetty used during World War II for the transport of munitions. There are also a large number of disused but preserved munitions stores in the reserves. The Reserve also features large picnic areas and is a popular fishing locality.
After 1898 the Fremantle railway line terminated at Robbs Jetty in North Coogee.On 1 July 1903 the line was extended south along the coast to Coogee servicing Woodman Point.: [1] [2] On 19 December 1955 the line was extended to Kwinana [3] to provide a rail service to the Kwinana Oil Refinery [4]

The one-kilometre-long (3,294 ft) Long Jetty was the primary port facility until the harbour was opened in 1897. Fremantle shipping was served by the Long Jetty that extended into the open sea, where Bathers Beach is today. Cargo was offloaded onto the jetty and then taken down Cliff Street in Fremantle's West End.
