Mound City National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located near Mound City, in Pulaski County, Illinois. It encompasses 10.5 acres (4.2 ha), and as of the end of 2005, had 8,098 interments. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it is managed by the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. [2]
Pulaski County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 5,193. [1] Its county seat is Mound City. [2] Its largest city is Mounds. It is located along the Ohio River in the southwestern portion of the state, known locally as "Little Egypt".
As of the 2020 census [1] there were 447 people, 196 households, and 122 families residing in the township. The population density was 12.30 inhabitants per square mile (4.75/km 2). There were 225 housing units at an average density of 6.19 per square mile (2.39/km 2).
Point Isabel was an old shipping point on the Illinois River, at the mouth of the Spoon River and directly across from Havana, and was the southern terminus of the Fulton County Narrow Gauge railway connecting to Fairview and Galesburg. Bessler's Station (aka Barrett's Station) was a station on the Narrow Gauge Railroad until 1910.
