Out of Africa is a 1985 American epic romantic drama film directed and produced by Sydney Pollack, and starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.The film is based loosely on the 1937 autobiographical book Out of Africa written by Isak Dinesen (the pseudonym of Danish author Karen Blixen), with additional material from Dinesen's 1960 book Shadows on the Grass and other sources.
Suzanna Hamilton (born February 8, 1960) is an English actress, notable for playing the role of Julia in the 1984 film adaptation of George Orwell's classic novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four, as well as other film roles including Tess (1979), Brimstone and Treacle (1982), Wetherby (1985), and Out of Africa (1985).
She also appeared in Oscar winner Taylor Hackford's film White Nights (1985) and in an uncredited role as a woman pouring champagne to Klaus Maria Brandauer at a hunting party in the Oscar winning Out of Africa (1985), directed by Oscar winner Sydney Pollack. [4] Other credits include Arthur the King (1985).
It also earned Streep another Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, and the film ultimately won Best Picture. Film critic Stanley Kauffmann praised her performance, writing "Meryl Streep is back in top form. This means her performance in Out of Africa is at the highest level of acting in film today."
