Established in 1947, the college was attached as a four-year program under the College of Arts and Sciences. [1] In 1958, it implemented a five-year curriculum but reverted to its four-year baccalaureate program in 1976 when required to do so by the Department of Education and Culture (now the Department of Education ).
In January 1960, the first capping ceremony of the college was held and by April 1962, thirty out of the forty-seven nursing students graduated and became the first class to receive the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This pioneer class engendered a 100% passing mark in the nurses’ board exam that same year.
