The Key West Historic District (also known as Old Town of the City of Key West) is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on March 11, 1971) located in Key West, Florida. It encompasses approximately 4,000 acres (16 km 2 ), bounded by White, Angela, Windsor, Passover, Thomas and Whitehead Streets, and the Gulf of Mexico .
The "Old Town" neighborhood is located on the west side of the island and is within the Key West Historic District. The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). [1] The property has served various uses: as a grocery and butcher shop, a residence with a doctor's office, a boardinghouse, and a bed and breakfast inn.
The earliest Key West neighborhoods, on the western part of the island, are broadly known as Old Town. The Key West Historic District includes the major tourist destinations of the island, including Mallory Square, Duval Street, the Truman Annex, and Fort Zachary Taylor. Old Town is where the classic bungalows and guest mansions are found.
The Custom House and Old Post Office is a historic site located at 281 Front Street, Key West, Florida, United States. On September 20, 1973, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places .
