After 22 years on Oak Park Avenue, the building at 16250 South 84th Avenue was built, and the congregation moved in on October 2, 1977. The Christian Scientists held services in the building until sometime in the 1960s, when a smaller Black congregation purchased the structure and renamed it St. Stephen's. This church, in turn, moved out in the 1990s and sold the building to Konstantinos Antoniou, who planned on turning the property into a condo complex.
Sunday school began at St. Stephen Martyr on January 5, 1868, but Father McNally wanted a parochial school as well, and fundraising for and construction of a $2,200 ($50,358 in 2023 dollars) structure began the following year. [2] St. Stephen's Parish School for Boys opened in 1872, with about 50 pupils aged 5 to 13 in attendance. [10]
