The core title for Spider-Man has been The Amazing Spider-Man, since the title's launch in 1963.After issue #1's launch in January, the book was released monthly. [2]Marvel's first attempt at chronologically collecting the core title was in 1987, with the Marvel Masterworks premium hardcover line, which reprinted 10-12 comics per book.
Beginning with issue #3 (July 1966), the title was published bimonthly, continuing in the 25¢-giant format through #33. Through issue #12, Marvel Tales reprinted some of the earliest issues of The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as some of the earliest stories of Thor, Ant-Man, and Fantastic Four member the Human Torch (from his solo feature in Strange Tales).

The Spectacular Spider-Man was initially a two-issue magazine published by Marvel in 1968, [1] as an experiment in entering the black-and-white comic-magazine market [2] successfully pioneered by Warren Publishing and others. It sold for 35 cents when standard comic books cost 12 cents and Annuals and Giants 25 cents.
