Cedar Island is about 4 miles (6.4 km) long, extending from the "Lola" village on the southeast end near Core Sound and Lewis Creek, north to the Ferry Station at the northern side of the island, bordering Pamlico Sound. The main village of Cedar Island, formerly known as "Roe" is located along the north central portion of the island.
Cedar Island National Wildlife Refuge The refuge lies five miles (8 km) east of the Atlantic Ocean and about 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Beaufort, North Carolina . Established in 1964, the refuge consists of approximately 11,000 acres (45 km 2 ) of irregularly flooded, brackish marsh and 3,480 acres (14.1 km 2 ) of pocosin and woodland habitat.
Al Noor Island is located on Khalid Lagoon in the Emirate of Sharjah, across the water from Al Majaz Island.It can be reached by car through Corniche Street, S110, then continue on foot through the pedestrian bridge behind Al Noor Mosque in Sharjah Corniche Street.

Down East historically refers to the group of communities east of Beaufort in Carteret County in the coastal plain region of the state. These communities are Bettie, Otway, Straits, Harkers Island, Gloucester, Marshallberg, Tusk, Smyrna, Williston, Davis, Stacy, Masontown, Sea Level, Atlantic and Cedar Island.
Knotts Island–Currituck: This route was created in the fall of 1962, and is the world's longest free ferry. It links NC 615 to the mainland, across the Currituck Sound between Knott's Island and Currituck. This was done to shorten the travel time for Knott's Island school children to their school on the mainland.
The Outer Banks Scenic Byway follows US 70 East to NC 12 on Cedar Island. The byway then continues onto NC 12 North near Atlantic. The byway then crosses the Ocracoke-Cedar Island Ferry north.
