In computer programming, lazy initialization is the tactic of delaying the creation of an object, the calculation of a value, or some other expensive process until the first time it is needed.
Classes are used sometimes used as or with namespaces. In programming languages that don't support namespaces (e.g., JavaScript) but do support classes and objects, classes are often used to substitute for namespaces. These classes are usually not instantiated and consist exclusively of static members.
In a Java source file, the package that this file's class or classes belong to is specified with the package keyword. This keyword is usually the first keyword in the source file. At most one package declaration can appear in a source file.
import {class as altname} from "modname"; – JavaScript import package . class – Scala import package .{ class1 => alternativeName , class2 } – Scala
Originally, Rhino compiled all JavaScript code to Java bytecode in generated Java class files. This produced the best performance, often beating the C++ implementation of JavaScript run with just-in-time compilation (JIT), but suffered from two faults. First, compiling time was long since generating bytecode and loading the generated classes ...
import java.util.*; /*This form of importing classes makes all classes in package java.util available by name, could be used instead of the import declaration in the previous example. */ import java.*; /*This statement is legal, but does nothing, since there are no classes directly in package java.

In this case, MAX_VALUE is ambiguous, as the MAX_VALUE field is an attribute of both java.lang.Integer and java.lang.Long. Prefixing the field with its class name will disambiguate the class from which MAX_VALUE is derived, but doing so makes the use of a static import redundant. [2]
