Altoona (/ æ l ˈ t uː n ə / al-TOO-nə) [7] is a city in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 8,292 at the 2020 census [8] with an estimated population in 2022 of 9,149. [9] The city is a railroad terminal on the Union Pacific Railroad.
Construction on the $60 million expansion began in September 2005. An addition to the casino opened in August 2006, while two new restaurants and a 1,200-seat concert hall known as "The Meadows" opened in February 2007. [4] Prairie Meadows is owned by Polk County and operated by a local, non-profit, 13-member board of directors.
The first H.A. Winston & Co. restaurant opened in 1972 at Front and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia.
