[ 3 ] Pampa is the county seat of Gray County and is the principal city of the Pampa micropolitan statistical area , which includes both Gray and Roberts Counties. [ 5 ]

Gray County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 21,227. [1] The county seat is Pampa. [2] The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1902. [3] Gray County is named for Peter W. Gray, [4] a Confederate lawyer and soldier in the American Civil War.
The population increased to 809 by 1940. Several Protestant denominations established churches in the community. Eight people died when an early spring snowstorm stranded about 100 people in around 55 automobiles on the road between Pampa and Lefors on April 7–8, 1938.
