    I had no idea. But googling for it, it seems "skew" is a Scottish term for a gable coping, that is, the top bit of the gable wall that sticks up to stop water from running down the wall. --BluePlatypus 14:33, 1 April 2006 (UTC) And, of course, "skew" is a general geometric term for two lines which are neither parallel nor intersecting.
