Joliet Junior College (JJC) is a public community college in Joliet, Illinois. Founded in 1901, it was the first public community college founded in the United States. [3] In Spring 2014, the college enrolled 16,375 students. [4] Every year, 48,000 students enroll in the college's academic programs and in non-credit programs.
The college started in April 1981 and opened its doors to the first batch of students in 1982. In January 1985, Jurong Junior College was relocated to 800 Corporation Road. Jurong Junior College was designated as the 4th Language Elective Programme (Chinese) Centre by the MOE on 9 April 2005. [ 1 ]
Joliet Junior College, established in 1901, was the first public junior college in the nation. It was the brain child of William Rainey Harper, president of the University of Chicago, and J. Jurong Pioneer Junior College's uniform was designed by alumni from JJC and PJC as well as its pioneer batch of students in 2018. The current uniform is a white shirt/blouse and dark blue pants/skirt. Students wear a maroon tie every Monday morning till 1030hrs. During other official events, students don grey blazers and ties. The main academic levels include Accelerated/ Honors, Upper College Prep, and College Prep. Students may also opt to take Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit courses through Joliet Junior College, and may qualify for the Honors Program, Academic Resource Center, or "Degree-in-Three" program through the University of St. Francis.
This newer part of the museum also connects to the historic Joliet Chamber of Commerce Clubhouse next door (now known as the Renaissance Center of the City Center campus of Joliet Junior College) and to the JJC Renaissance Center's main dining room, which is staffed by the college's hospitality and culinary school students and open to the public.
The founding members of 1970 were the College of Du Page, Illinois Valley Community College, Joliet Junior College, Morton College, Rock Valley College, and Thornton Community College. [1] [2] The conference dissolved at the end of the 2022–23 school year. [3]
