The game features frustrating elements which has made it subject to internet video game commentary , such as ostensibly innocuous objects that kill the character in ways unforeseeable to the player.
What I believe happened was around 2008-2009, someone was trying to research where "Cat Mario" came from and found Chiki's blog. They saw the URL of the development page and used that as name reference. Syobon no Action isn't a wrong way to read the name - what is erroneous, however, is Syobon Action.
