The Government Engineering College Thrissur (GEC-T) is a public engineering and research institute located in Thrissur, Kerala, India.During its establishment in 1957, it was the second-oldest public engineering institute to be established in the state of Kerala after CET (1939) and the first public institute of technology to be established after the formation of the state in 1956.

Maharaja's Technological Institute known as MTI is a Government-run technical education institute situated in Thrissur City of Kerala, India.Founded in 1946 by Maharaja of Cochin to impart technical education for the people of the Kingdom of Cochin, it is the oldest technical institute and polytechnic in Kerala.
It is the same pool which provides the faculty to all the nine Government Engineering Colleges in the state. The 50-strong faculty team of the college consists of 7 PhD holders and 28 PG degree holders. The faculty-to-student ratio in GEC Barton Hill is 1:15, which is better than the All India Council for Technical Education stipulations.
