St Patrick's College is an independent, Catholic, Girls', high school and Boarding School located in the city of Townsville, in North Queensland, Australia. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] It is administered by the Queensland Catholic Education Commission , with an enrolment of 627 students and a teaching staff of 62, as of 2023. [ 3 ]
St Patrick's College was established in 1840. [2] It was the first school built by private enterprise in the colony of New South Wales [3] and was the result of the initiative of the Catholic people of the Campbelltown area in association with the priest responsible for the district, Fr Gould.

St Patrick's College traces its roots to St. Patrick's School, part of a group of schools established in 1803 by St Patrick's Church for the education of poor children in the Soho area of London. The school operated at 24 Great Chapel St until 1967. After its closure, the Catholic Church ran St Patrick's as a language school teaching English.
