In 1737, present-day East Stroudsburg was settled by Daniel Brodhead, a judge from Marbletown, New York, who acquired a 1,000-acre lot of land on and around where Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Hospital currently stands at 206 E. Brown Street in what then was Bucks County and now is Monroe County along the east bank of Brodhead Creek, then known as the Analomink River.

Built by Stroudsburg's founder Jacob Stroud for his son, John Stroud, it remained in the Stroud family until 1893, although it was leased for a time for use as a store and as a boarding house. It now houses the Monroe County Historical Association. [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. [1]

Zion Lutheran Church, also known as The Lutheran Church of Middle Smithfield, is a historic Lutheran church located in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area at Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1851, and is a one-story, brick building in a modified Greek Revival style.
