Monkey D. Luffy (/ ˈ l uː f i / LOO-fee) (Japanese: モンキー・D・ルフィ, Hepburn: Monkī Dī Rufi, [ɾɯꜜɸiː]), also known as "Straw Hat" Luffy, [n 2] is a fictional character and the protagonist in the Japanese manga series One Piece created by Eiichiro Oda.
Kuro flees the island, and Kaya rewards Luffy with the ship he wanted, which he dubs the Going Merry in honor of Kaya's lawyer. Usopp accepts his invitation to join the crew, and is kissed by Kaya before he leaves. The Marines catch up to the Straw Hats, as Garp attacks them at sea. Luffy reveals that Garp is his grandfather, to the crew's shock.

Luffy is brought to the palace, where Hancock is shocked to learn of Luffy's attack on the World Noble. Luffy learns that the three sisters were once slaves of the World Nobles, but were freed when Fisher Tiger attacked Mariejois, and that he eventually founded the Sunny Pirates from former slaves. Hancock then grants Luffy use of her ship.
All the members of the crew are big fans of Luffy and named their ship "Going Luffy-senpai" after him. The crew consists of a total of 56 members including: Bartolomeo ( バルトロメオ ) is a former super rookie and captain of the crew, who has the power to create invisible barriers around him thanks to the Barrier-Barrier Fruit.
Luffy discovers the junkyard is named the Gray Terminal. Luffy runs after Ace when he steals the treasure and run into Sabo, a boy who lives there. Luffy discovers the stolen treasure and is tied up. Luffy screams and Porchemy, a member of the Bluejam Pirates, finds them. Luffy, Ace and Sabo escape, but Luffy is captured by Porchemy.
The voice is shocked and Luffy explains he ate the Devil's Fruit. A gun then pokes out through a bush and shoots Luffy in the back, but Luffy bounces the bullet into the air with his Gum-Gum powers. Luffy then spots a twitching green bush, and the owner of the voice takes off running.
